After a long wait for replacement parts to be manufactured and shipped, playground repairs have been completed and the playground is now officially open. Thanks for your patience while it was closed for the safety of the children using it.
We originally expected the playground to reopen in September but the playground equipment manufacturer surprised us by delivering replacement parts nearly 2 months earlier than their original estimate.
Repairs included replacing worn/damaged parts on the climbing equipment that posed a cut hazard to children using it. The tire swing was cracked and in danger of breaking away from the supporting chains, and a homeowner donated and installed a new one. The playground mulch was replaced with 180 cubic yards of special-purpose playground mulch with rounded edges.
The playground equipment manufacturer provided a standard playground safety sign and bicycle rack at no additional charge.
There is room for further improvement, such as redoing the fence on the baseball backstop, removing weeds from the volleyball court and tilling the sand, installing a new volleyball net, pressure-cleaning the playground equipment and painting the benches and perhaps the grill. Perhaps we’ll plan a neighborhood work day this fall when temperatures drop to do this work ourselves.
We hope you enjoy using the playground. Treat it with respect so it lasts another 25 years and please clean up any trash in the area after visiting to keep it looking nice.
