Board Member Election to be held at Annual Meeting

The LOE By-Laws specify that at the first annual meeting (held March 29, 2023), three board members would be elected.   One board member would be elected to a one-year term, one to a two-year term and one to a three-year term. The intention is to establish staggered terms so that under normal circumstances at least two board members at any given time would have one or two years of experience and could help train a newly-elected board member follow the practices and procedures established by previous boards. As each of those initial terms end, the owners would elect a new board member or re-elect the one whose term has expired, with the newly-elected member winning a full three-year term. In time, all board members would serve for three years, but only one’s term would end in any given year.  There are also provisions for replacements due to resignations, health and other reasons but those are beyond the scope of this post.

Unfortunately the By-Laws established no mechanism for determining which of our first three board members got which term. Because the first meeting was held in March rather than November as required by the By-Laws, nobody would have completed a one-year term in time for the annual meeting. The board decided to resolve these issues by asking one of its members to volunteer to run for re-election at the November 7, 2023 annual meeting, and that volunteer is Current Board of  Directors President Ron Sutton.

In the interest of helping LOE owners get to know other candidates, if any, the board is pleased to announce that any owner announcing that they will be a candidate can write a short document to acquaint owners with their background, skills and goals for the HOA, and it will be posted as-written on the Association website and announced via email to all registered with the Association website. Other owners will be able to reply to these posts to share their support for the candidates.

Ron will create a space for posting these documents. If you have signed up to be a candidate and wish to have your document posted, click webmaster@liveoakestateshoa.com. Please stick with plain Word or text documents or images. PDF files are difficult to insert other than as a link.
